The Run-3 ATLAS LEGO model was designed by Nathan Readioff in 2024/2025 and is a revised and more detailed version of the original ATLAS LEGO model. It is built from more than 21,000 LEGO pieces and features all the relevant parts of the Run-3 ATLAS detector in great detail.
It’s been over two years in the making. Nathan spent about 1000 hours on the initial design, and around another 200 hours refining the design when the prototype started to break apart under its own weight (now fixed in the final design). Establishing a build sequence and creating a detailed step-by-step guide, and doing all this twice (once for the first prototype in Sheffield, then again for the final design) added up to about 700 hours of work.
A big THANK YOU goes out to Nathan’s colleagues at the University of Sheffield and to the ATLAS outreach team for their assistance!
