Building ATLAS at Oklahoma State University

2 September 2017BYOPDSascha Mehlhase

The particle-physics group at Oklahoma State University has recently finished building their copy of the large ATLAS model and made a time-lapse movie about it …

It’s BYOPD time at Max-Planck-Institute today

24 June 2017BYOPDSascha Mehlhase

From 10 am to 5 pm we were part of the Open Day at the Max-Planck-Institute for Physics. Within seven hours we got about 50 contributions, all of which you can marvel at on our event page.

We’ll choose the winners within the next couple of day and will inform everyone by email afterwards.

An ATLAS model for Oklahoma

19 May 2017BYOPDSascha Mehlhase

The ATLAS group at the physics department of the Oklahoma State University just got pieces for one of the large ATLAS LEGO models shipped by LEGO. It will be the 61st copy in the world! We look forward to seeing it build soon!!!

Open Day at the Max Planck Institute for Physics

23 March 2017BYOPDSascha Mehlhase

We’ll be part of the Open Day at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich in June.

Find more details here soon.

Open Day in Garching

24 October 2016BYOPDSascha Mehlhase

Also in 2016 we took part in the Open Day in Garching.

On 22 October we had a BYOPD competition, along with the large ATLAS model, screens with live data/events from CERN, a button machine, a cosmic-ray experiment and a screening of ‘Particle Fever‘.

All competing designs, as well as the first winners can be found on the event page (German only).
