Building ATLAS in Oslo

The ATLAS group at University of Oslo has just finished building their ATLAS brick model and documented it with a very nice time-lapse movie.

After members of the group already helped with the sorting of the pieces at CERN, now students as well as professors took part in the construction of the model in Oslo. Though the group has experience in manufacturing parts of the actual ATLAS detector, building the 50:1 scale model still took more than 30 man hours in total.

One more for Canada

Students, staff and volunteers at McGill university in Canada recently finished building the forth Atlas Lego model in the country.

All members of the McGill Atlas group and in total 80 people were involved in the construction of the model, giving mainly undergrads the chance to play with some Lego and ask questions about physics.  The whole event was captured in a very nice time-lapse movie and covered by local TV station LaPresse.
